About the Practice
Detail:

Mohanbhai Jhala from Kalesar village of Mahemdabad Taluka uses the leaves of Toothbrush tree (Salvadora persica) to augment fertility in his farm. Sprinkling the powdered leaves of (Salvadora persica L.) in the furrows of crops like brinjal, chilly, potato makes the crop healthy, reduces the infestation of pests and the effects of wilt. Using the leaves with organic manure is beneficial even during the cultivation of cereal crops like paddy, millet, wheat. About 20 kg (Salvadora persica) leaves are required for one vigha. The branches should be cut and left aside so that the leaves dry naturally in about a week.
