About the Practice
Detail:

Jayaveeran extracts the juice from the leaves of Epinard, dilutes with water and sprays in the chilli fields, two months after planting, for chilli leaf spot and powdery mildew disease. The same extract is sprayed on the fields when Lady's finger pods get discoloured or light yellow or white. Extract the juice from the leaves of Epinard (Prosopis juliflora), dilute with water and spray in the chilli (Capsicum spp.) fields, two months after planting. Spray the same extract on the fields when bhendi or Lady's finger (Abelmoschus esculentus) pods get discoloured (light yellow or white).

PAS 1:

"Plant produces large number of compounds as secondary metabolites with complex structure and diversity with a potent insecticidal activity. Large number of plants has been identified so far for their insecticidal property and can be used as an alternative pest management for synthetic pesticides. The present investigation was conducted to evaluate the insecticidal activity of (Prosopis juliflora) against termite (Odontotermes obesus) and cockroach (Blattella germanica). The n-hexane extract of the proposed plant showed higher percentage mortality at 10 % concentration in 30 and 42 hours against termite and cockroach respectively. The LD 50 was determined to be 0.472% and 1.07% for termite and cockroach, respectively after 23 hours. The proposed plant showed significant insecticidal activity at 0.005% level of confidence. From the present investigation it can be suggested that (Prosopis juliflora) can be used as potential insecticide. [Tura, Alemu&Tafese, Terefe. (2015). PAS 2:

"Application of the (P. juliflora) extract to evaluate the control efficiency on the mite (T. bastosi) provided homogeneous cover on the leaves of the physic nut, which was verified by the coloration of the hydrosensitive cards that presented uniform blue coloration in more than 90% of the area, which indicates the coverage of the extract in the plants. The aqueous extract of P. juliflora leaves at LC50 = 53.45% was efficient in the control of T. bastosi in all evaluated periods, which did not show significant differences between them. After 24 hours of the application of the extract, control efficiency was higher than 80% and these values were maintained until the end of the experiment. This was not observed for the LC90 of the extract, whose efficiency presented values greater than 70% and less than 80% in all evaluated periods . These results are relevant because, according to Potenza et al. (2005) mortality values equal to or greater than 80% with use of plant extracts are considered satisfactory.
