Kanjibhai Darbar of Gujarat uses toothbrush tree (Salvadorapersica) and farmyard manure (FYM) for better germination of paddy (Oryzasativa) seedlings.Paddy seed is soaked in water for 12 hours then transferred into a basket and covered tightly with leaves of toothbrush tree (Salvadorapersica). Keep the basket aside for 24 hours, but cool water has to be sprinkled on the basket thrice during the period. Under this method, paddy will germinate faster. Because of slurry the paddy plants fix well in the soil and hence cent per cent germination is ensured.
