"Madhia" is the condition in which a honeydew-like sticky substance is secreted by a sucking insect pest called aphid (Aphis gossypii), which is deposited on the leaves of cotton (Gossypiumherbaceum) plants. A black sooty mould develops on this secretion. This makes the leaves look blackish and shiny. To prevent this condition from spreading in the field, one-litre buttermilk and one-litre cow urine are mixed together. Add it to 15-litre water. The solution is prepared one day prior to actual spraying. It is sprayed on the "madhia"-affected cotton crop. This controls the pest soon. This is a traditional practice used for the last 10 years. Almost all farmers in Kheda villages use this practice for the control of "madhia" in cotton.

"The ingredients of cow dung and phytochemical compounds of plant extract are responsible for mosquito repellence. The mosquito coils available in market creates heavy smoke that can generate respiratory problems especially for patients of Asthma, COPD and other respiratory diseases. The cow dung provides an herbal repellent with long lasting protection, safe for human life, human and domestic animal skin with no side effect and no feedback of environmental ill effect, as an alternative to synthetic chemical repellents. The formulation was safe, eco-friendly, cheap, easy to use and has maximum repellence against mosquitoes. Production of these natural repellents with cow dung may help common man in earning more money. "Traditionally, cow urine has been used in medicines in developing and less-developing countries. Only recently, its properties as pest control agent have been exploited in plant protection. It is mixed generally with cow dung or plant parts and plant-derived products as these combinations proved effective and cheaper than synthetic pesticides. The action of bioconstituents is exerted on insect development and survival , cow urine can therefore be considered as a potential biopesticide. urine: a potential biopesticide. Indian J. Entomol.. 75. 212-216.] "
