Since the instincts of a farmer were stronger in him than that of a devotee, he sprinkled ample coconut water on the chilli plants a couple of times. Within five to six days, he was pleasantly surprised to see his "special" prayers answered: The chilli plants bore new flowers. Sardarsingh Chauhan has come upon his innovation of increasing chilli (Capsicum annum) production by using coconut (Cocos nucifera) water, purely by accident. Sardarsingh then wanted to test the science of his own mystical experience. So he asked for two more coconuts and experimented on 20 other chilli plants. The mystical result was the same. All the chilli plants unusually burst forth into inflorescence. With mystical backing and science to prove, now many farmers in Valsad villages growing chillis are taking coconuts to their respective farms. They are convinced that a small drip of coconut water goes a long way in increasing the production of chillis.
