Rhinocerous bettle is a major pest in coconut plantation. To control the pest the farmers plant a few Michelia champaca trees, locally known as sampige, in between the coconut trees in the orchard. The fragrance emanating from the champaca flowers drives away the bettles. Plant a few Michelia champaca trees in between the coconut trees in the orchard.
