A natural technique described by a farmer of Surillipatty village of the Cumbum area enhances germination in coconut seeds. In order to enhance germination in coconut seeds, they are soaked in water 20 days prior to sowing. This is a simple technique described by a farmer from Surillipatty village of the Cumbum area. However, the practice is widely used in many parts of the country. In some places, farmers put the seeds of coconuts in a well and take them out after they sprout. In Bangladesh, the farmers make raised beds of ash mixed with soil and put the coconut seeds in them, and water is sprinkled every day over the bed.
