River sand or field sand is used for preparing a thick layer under a big tree where direct sunlight is not reachable. Foliage of potato plants are covered on 6-8 layers of potatoes. Air circulation is maintained and sunlight does not reach the storage area due to covering by potato plant foliage. Potatoes are stored up to 6-7 months by this technique. If weather is hot, sprinkling of water is done around the storage area.
