Farmers from Karnataka makes use of coriander (Coriandrumsativum) to control the Strigaasiatica weed in the jowar or broom corn (Sorghum vulgare) field. They plant coriander seeds in between the rows of broom corn. Nearly 200 grams of coriander seeds are sown for every three kilogrammes of broom corn seeds. Once the coriander plants are big enough the strands twist themselves around the striga weed and suppress its growth.
