After the chickpea (Cicer arietinum) crop is harvested, its seeds are stored for use the following year. Three kilogram of chickpea husk is used for the storage of 600 kg of chickpea seed. It is stored in a bamboo barn, which is sealed airtight. The seeds can be stored thus for 4 to 5 years. By storing this way, the chickpea does not putrefy and is not infested by insects.
