Common salt or NaCl to preserve paddy straw for fodder. Farmers from West Bengal preserve paddy straw for fodder using common salt They heap straw in layers and put salt between them. For one cartload of straw, 4-5 kg of salt is required. It keeps rodents away from the straw completely. Moreover, the straw is much more palatable to cattle compared to normal straw. Heap straw in layers and put salt between them. Four to five kilogrammes of salt is required for one cartload of straw
