Mr Jagtar Singh Brar innovated with new technology to reduce this menace, especially utilization of straw as mulch which eventually enhances soil fertility, help in moisture retention and also reduces the weed menace. But the practice is usually avoided by most of farmers due to its labour-intensiveness. He used the rake to collect paddy straw from the field in just five hours with the involvement of only five labourers. The practice otherwise require 24 hours along with at least fifteen individuals.
