About the Practice
Problem Statement:

Harvesting of Paddy

Detail:

Dharnidhar Mahato, Balakdih, had developed a Rs 500 paddy thrasher with one-fifth the cost and twice the output (1000-1200 kg paddy thrashed per person per day) of a regular thrasher. The machine consists of a threshing cylinder, driving mechanism and supporting frame. To achieve the cylinder speed about 300 rpm+10rpm, two numbers of cast iron gears are being provided with gear ratio of 1:2.5 operated by paddle. Two men are enough for easy operation at a time. The main part of the machine is wooden cylinder with wire loop all round its periphery/circumference. The cylinder is pivoted on two ball bearings on the frame. Threshing of paddy crop is done by holding the paddy against the wire loop of revolving cylinders. The grains are easily shattered out. Due to centrifugal forces, the grains are thrown away from operators. There is no looping of paddy straws. http://www.sevabharatikvk.org/CaseStudies/PADDY%20THRESHERS.pdf

Practice Details

Link: The device is a retrofittable kit made up of amplifier, electronic counter, switching unit, relay switch, power supply and timer circuits, which give signal to the mobile phone’s inbuilt PCB and completes the operation. The electronic counter counts the number of rings, takes appropriate action according to device status and sends specific signal to the user. In addition, the gadget is able to inform the user whether the device has been switched on/ off or the electricity is there or not through a feedback signal.
Manufacturing Capacity: b) Design Support, c) Sub-contracting, d) Licensing, e) Franchising
