Detail:
Mr Chandran has developed simple device to hold the wooden beam which is used for rolling the portion of woven Sarees in tight condition. This will increase the speed of weaving and one can easily weave one extra Saree (five Sarees in a month instead of four) the new device is with teeth like chakra with many serrations to keep the wooden beam in correct angle. Otherwise it will be loose and lead to damage of the floor by making small holes to insert wooden stick conventionally. The new coupling costs Rs 200 only. It has been installed in more than 1000 looms in and around Siadapet village where weavers are still depend for their sole livelihood occupation.
