About the Practice
Problem Statement:

existing problem does it solve (problem statement): Much of the inspiration comes from my own experience of not finding something suitable to wear because of my disabilities. I started feeling chronic debilitating pain 8years back and the severity of the disabilities increased over time to be over 80% currently. Dressing up was the first place where I had to depend on others and even then the process was extremely painful. That's when I thought of adaptive clothing. I found I could change small things and style it for my comfort without missing out on the elegance. I also found many friends complaining about the complexity of dressing up because of their own physical issues like back ache, shoulder ache, nerve problem. So I started thinking of offering a line of adaptive clothing as solution.

Detail:

The biggest innovation will be in the structural design using different cuts, fasteners and fabrics and lay them out in a creative way clothes that are easy, quick, and painless to wear as independently as possible. It will adapt to low shoulder movements (like frozen shoulder), poor grip, low backache (like in slip disc), lack of movement of the back on bending and low finger dexterity. There are two large categories of products- adaptive innerwear and outerwear. It will be a first if its kind globally for the independent wears adapted to shoulder immobility. While around 7-8 brands addresses the problem of fingers and back issues in the global market, no one addresses the shoulder issues in independent wear. The innerwear would be underwear for both men and women in two categories - adapted around mobility impairment and adapted for use in mild , moderate a severe incontinence. There would also be bras designed for women with severe shoulder and finger immobility. This would be first of its kind globally. Most adaptive designs are currently in informal Western styles, not suitable for the Indian people. We plan to create formal adaptive shirts and pants for men, and formal adaptive Indian clothes for women. Innovation in fabric combinations that can be best used for sensory sensitivity, high sweat absorption and/or stretch.
