About the Practice
Problem Statement:

High labor cost due to hiring of snow shovels, lack of availability of labor during winters, lack of particular mini device for clearing narrow snow-clogged walkways, which halts day to day activities.

Detail:

Being a resident of Kashmir Valley where during winters there is a heavy snowfall and in that season there comes a 40 day long harsh winter period, known in the local parlance as “Chillai-Kalan”. Due to intense cold wave conditions during Chillai Kalan, snow freezes and becomes rock hard solid. Locals suffer to make a way for themselves on the already paved bituminous and non-paved surfaces. As the agricultural activities remain shut during this season, the mini tiller plough machine is of no use for that period. So to make this tiller ploughing machine of multipurpose use, I have added an attachment to it whose design is such that it will clear the snow on surfaces and roads efficiently. It will be attached on the front side of tiller and it will not be monolithic with tiller and will be easily detached whenever needed. This attachment will be comprising of an spiracle blade with different designs having 24 Inches and a connected pulley 6 Inches with total width of 30 Inches shaft, Its height will be 18 inches.

Problem Scale: Problems which occur due to snowfall are with same as locally and internationally. But the under developed countries are unable to handle this situation more efficiently as compared to well developed countries due to its machine technologies.
