Problem Statement:

The common masks used by the people are not very effective in controlling the spread of infection or any virus. People donot dispose masks properly after usage which leaves the chance of spread of more infection. Further, a person can't cough or sneeze while wearing that mask nor is it allowed in case of ongoing pandemic (like COVID-19) to cough or sneeze at the public places. A person at some public place can't cough while using mask nor can he cough while taking it off, in the former case he wants to prevent his own selves from infection and in later case he has to take care of others otherwise he would be fined. Keeping in view all of these problems, we have designed this innovation.


Currently, the most common method of prevention against the infections and various othercommunicable diseases is usage of masks. But, most of the common people are unaware abouthow to use masks properly. For example, many people are unaware of the fact that the commonmasks used by them are supposed to be disposed properly after every single usage . Manypeople go on using a single mask for years which can indeed pose a serious threat to their healthbecause of the settling of microorganisms and germs on the outer surface of mask.We canovercome this difficulty by introducing a PROTECTION HELMET. it is basically advanced versionof masks which has various extra features to make it suitable and efficient for usage. It is basically a rigid full head cover whose outer covering is made of a good heatconducting metal or alloy. The front part is made transparent for the person to be able to seethings. The 1ist special feature of this helmet is that it is attached with a small temperaturecontroller (Peltier device) on one side. With the help of this we can turn it on and raise itstemperature upto maximum ( depending upon the range of temperature controller). With this, theouter covering of helmet will heat up and hence kill most the germs and other microorganismswhich may have settled down on the outer surface of helmet.( Since, most of them can't survive athigh temperatures) This way, the problem of disposal ends i..e. after every usage, instead ofdumping it we only need to turn on the Peltier device and that will automatically kill most of theinfectants by raising the temperature. Also, to prevent heat from entering the inner surface ofprotection helmet, there is an insulating layer in between outer and inner surface.The second important feature is the small sanitizer or air purifier spray inside the helmet. People usingmasks can't obviously cough or sneeze while taking on their masks. Nor is the coughing orsneezing at public place a safe thing to do as that brings the threat of spread of infection whichsometimes, especially in case of virus can be very dangerous. Only to get rid of this problem,there is that air purifier spray inside our protection helmet. This will allow the person tocough or sneeze without taking off his/her helmet each time. People can cough or sneeze and withthe help of air purifier, the air inside would be purified and hence made suitable for breathingagain.Next special feature is the use of best air filter paper like "nonwoven polypropylene fibre" which has been authorised with 95% of filtration efficiency. This is attached at the front part of helmet along with a valve for proper breathing.So these werethe special features of protection helmet taking into consideration the need of the hour!!!. Theestimated cost in total for one "protection helmet" is Rs. 1500. This was the simple version of itwith basic attachments and obviously, it could be made even more advanced if proper functioningvia Arduino is introduced. That would make it automatically turn on the Peltier device whenrequired or automatically spray air purifier when the person starts coughing. In that case total costmay range range from Rs. 2000-2500. PROTECTION HELMET can save people from various deadly diseases especially the ones including the spread of virus. Since extra precaution is required to be taken in that case and this helmet can prove to be a much better option for people to use.

Practice Details

Link: Attached with Peltier device to heat up the outer covering in order to kill the microorganisms settling on the outer surface. Consists of Heat conducting outer covering and an insulating material on the inner part to prevent heat from entering inside. Attached with air purifier Spray so as purify the air every time a person coughs or sneezes. Top filtration efficiency Air filter paper of non-woven polypropylene fibre used at the front to enable person to breath safely.

Problem Scale: 1)INDIA: Due to huge population, the methods used to prevent spread of infection like social distancing is very tough for the people to follow as there is a huge rowdiness of people in cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta etc. It's hard obviously to follow the rules of social distancing perfectly but we can reduce the risk of infection if we are using a proper shield to face the virus or other infectants. so, in a country like India, the problem seems to be more challenging due to its huge population extent. 2) AROUND THE WORLD: The arrival of COVID19 is a threat to the whole world, it reminds people how fast the deadly varuses can roam across the whole world and kill so many people within days. Therefore, the proper means are required around the world for people to face the infectants. Every single innovation can be used throughout the world wherever there is risk of spread of infection or virus.
