Tractor drawn Bund Formerming / Irrigation

Sri. Kulandaivelu ( 71) has been using bullocks for forming irrigation channel bunds. Due to maintenance problem of bullocks he thought of designing "Tractor mounted Bund Former". With the help of a local lathe workshop mechanic he has designed the equipment. For the last four years he has been using this Bund former. This has also been replicated by more than 10 farmers. Operation of Tractor drawn Bund former This Bund former can able to cover 5 acres in one hour for forming bunds of irrigation channels. This is also useful for forming ridges and furrows for planting Setts of tapioca, sowing of sorghum, turmeric etc. The cost of designing bund former is Rs.1,000/- only. It forms bunds up to a height of 1 feet. It saves the cost of labour.
